The Standardbred Fan Club broke new ground in the year 2009 when we introduced our pacer retraining video.
The Standardbred Fan Club - Retraining A Pacer video shows that it is possible to retrain a pacer or trotter to walk, trot and canter. Some of the many rescued horses from the pacing race track went on to jumping and dressage careers (see our members section) and others continued to be the bestest Standies ever for trails, companionship and as family members.
With a step to step format consisting of the preliminary ground work, introducing the saddle, lunging practice, riding the Standie and the ability of the horse to overcome its pacing gait with practice as time frames is demonstrated in the video.
The DVD was made primarily for the novice and rider with some riding experience who have adopted or brought home a Standardbred horse from the race track or adoption organization although it will also be useful to instructors and trainers.

This video helped me so much with the canter. I am so relieved that my horse is fine, it's
normal what she has been doing. Recommended highly.

I received my dvd in the mail today. Thank you so much. Very helpful to have the steps
as well as giving me time frames for training. I was worried about how fast / slow to go
with fella's training. Standies are the Best. With the dvd's help i am confident i
can train fella on my own.

What an eye-opener! I finally understand why my Standie keeps his head up so high!

Really good video. It's so refreshing to see these horses not being forced, not being beaten,
not being tied down with draw reins and ropes, not being restrained in any way in any
part of the training, KUDOS TO YOUR HUMANE TRAINING METHODS AND - WHAT A SPLENDID OUTCOME.

Hey, thank you guys so much! My daughter has a horse we rescued from the harness track and
she was getting depressed because they can't jump right with the pacing so we were ready to give
up on this otherwise amazing and sweet horse. When I ordered the video and showed it to my daughter
she was so excited and practiced with him every day. Slowly he is coming around. We love this
guy to death so its a real lifesaver.

So kind in how you show patience and teach with understanding thats why the horses respond.
Lots of them have had some rough lives and they just long to please. Thank you so much for the
video.

It's easy to understand and definately got my monies worth. There were answers to things
I didnt expect for such a reasonable price. Thanks for helping by putting this together.

We do not have a lot of pacers over here but the method you provided is easy to follow and worked just
as good for the trotters. Well worth the money!
