The Standardbred Horse Fan Club was started to showcase the many talents that the Standardbred has after a pacer racing career. Felicia felt that way too The Club rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes former pacer race horses to prevent the tragic fate in BC's slaughter houses which is statistically where many the highest number of any breed end up.

The Standardbred Horse Fan Club was established in 2004 as a grassroots organization with the purpose to educate the public about the many talents of the pacer and trotter above and beyond that of being a race horse.
It seems especially appalling that horses bred for human profit through racing, are not afforded a safe existence by the people and the industry that exploits them. It’s important to remember as well, that racing horses are regularly administered drugs that are banned for life from entering the human food chain.
These ATI reports are a sad reminder of the individual horses that make up the list of the thousands of horses that are slaughtered every year in Canada.

The Club is entirely run on volunteer effort and relies on public donations and sponsors for the Club's intervention to rescue and rehome former Standardbred harness racing horses (pacers) destined for slaughter as well as its other causes. Membership to the Club is always free.
The Standardbred Fan Club's aim is to educate the public about the merits of the pacers as equine companions when they are discarded by the racing industry. We believe that may be the only hope in this age for the animals.
Thank you from the horses and volunteers
