| | I adopted "You're Just Jellis" from a rescue about 8 months ago. He is just likeeveryone describes their Standardbreds, sweet, trusting, fearless and willing to doanything you ask despite the starvation and neglect he has been through.
JJ has taught me about driving and we've started conditioning for limited distancein Endurance Driving. JJ has shown me that Standardbreds are have a huge heart andare incredibly strong!
I knew there was something special about him the first time I saw him. I got curiousabout his breeding and tracked his lineage. I discovered he is a direct descendantfrom Dan Patch and Billy Direct, the two fastest Standardbreds from 1906-2006! Nowevery time I look at JJ I wonder if he was ever bred and think about the history ofthese magnificent horses and how versatile they are.
I ride him as well but he really seems to love driving, also he enjoys being ponied from my other horse when we head out to the trails! There is not much he isn't willing to do, which from what I have read, is a common trait of these wonderful horses!
I have been riding, training and loving horses for over 30 years, and JJ is my firstStandardbred! I do not believe he will be my last!
